This project is in line with the need to renew the tram tracks, to bring the tram platforms up to standard and to redevelop the public space, from facade to facade. The project reorganises the traffic on this part of the street in order to propose the calming of the road. Thus, the pedestrian crossings of the street will become grade level walkways in order to ensure greater comfort and safety for pedestrians.
To the west (from Avenue Rogier to Place de la Reine), the project includes improved pedestrian spaces, new planting areas and bicycle racks to replace the current parking areas. These parking areas will no longer be needed as this direction of travel will be reserved exclusively for trams, buses and bicycles. There will also be new facilities for the tram stop.
On the east side (from Place de la Reine to Avenue Rogier), in addition to the tram stop facilities, the project retains the same traffic pattern as at present. As on the west side, the parking areas will be replaced by planted areas and bicycle racks.
The scope of the intervention concerns the section of the Haecht road between number 130 (south) and number 200 (north).
