At the beginning of each spring, Brussels Mobility starts its renovation programme for regional roads. As soon as the temperatures are high enough to be 'hot' asphalted, we carry out preventive renovation of large sections. The paving period usually continues until autumn. The multi-year planning is based on a mapping of the condition of the road network.
Timing
This type of work is usually carried out at night, on weekends and public holidays. Each paving operation follows the same schedule:
- Day 1: scraping the existing asphalt
- Day 2: applying the underlay
- Day 3: applying the top layer and markings
During the work, the construction area is completely inaccessible, traffic and parking are impossible. Detours are indicated on site.
If the paving is carried out on the day the bins pass through, Bruxelles Propreté requests that the bags be deposited outside the work area, at the nearest intersection.
Planning
Residents are notified in advance of asphalting operations by means of an all-purpose box. However, as the dates of the worksite are highly dependent on the weather conditions, we announce them on this page, in the left-hand column. Please consult the french or dutch version of this page to see this list.
