Redesign of boulevard Poincaré

Status : Study

As part of the Urban Renewal Contract n°5 "Heyvaert-Poincaré", Brussels Mobility is launching a mission to redevelop the central part of the boulevard Poincaré / boulevard du Midi.

The mission will be carried out by the ORG-BSS consortium. This is part of the BKP's (Beeldkwaliteitsplan) central procurement plan for the Canal Zone. In 2022, a co-creation process with citizens and local associations will be started.

This co-creation process will play an important role in the development of the future Poincaré boulevard.

Ambitions

The redevelopment of the boulevard Poincaré represents a great challenge given its strategic and historical location and the number of stakeholders involved. Therefore, together with the various stakeholders, we want to define the right ambitions with which we can improve the boulevard for the benefit of the inhabitants of the districts of Anderlecht, Sint-Gillis and Brussels-City as well as for all its passers-by and visitors.

With this project, we are giving a new meaning to this in-between space, which has the potential to become a quality public space where young and old can meet and share a pleasant moment.

What is an Urban Renewal Contract?

An Urban Renewal Contract (URC) is a regional programme that concentrates resources, energies and projects on a multi-municipal perimeter, with the priorities of improving public space and urban networking, creating infrastructure and housing, and enhancing environmental and economic quality.
